Software localization
We consider software localization to be the adaptation of a specific application to a specific country. Basarrate Traductores has been adapting software products from other countries into Spanish for years. This task goes beyond mere translation. It not only involves the target language but also certain important features of the country for which the product is intended: cultural traits in general and traits of technical culture in particular, standard practices and official standards, the terminology and standards of specific sectors, tax codes, etc.

We translate both the applications themselves and the help files, manuals and tutorials, to give the product the uniformity required to ensure the user's good understanding. In other words, the hand of a "single translator", that is, of a tight-knit working group that forms a real team, is what marks each job as a whole.

We approach localization in various steps: analysis of the project by a computer expert, determination of the specific purpose of the application, its files and its formats, and their compatibility with the requirements of desktop publishing and traditional procedures, preparation of graphical files and their adaptation and conversion, etc.

The translation itself is followed up by a review and a quality control before going on to the test bench, that is, the verification of the correct functioning of the application in its target language, Spanish.

Close contact is maintained with the customer throughout this process in order to solve the difficulties that arise in the comprehensive adaptation and to evaluate the progress of the work.
